Weary heart, your new beginning is here

You’re on the cusp of something new. The long tunnel of darkness has passed. Step into the light.

You’ve made it, friend. You waited well.

So long, winter. Hello, spring!

A note for the soul: nothing in our winter season is ever wasted by our Heavenly Father. - Sarah de Orlando

What the Lord planted in the garden of your heart last autumn has taken root, awoken and is coming forth. Breaking the surface with fresh green.

I know it’s been a hard season. I know you’ve fallen asleep with a damp pillowcase. You’ve clung to promises from the Lord even when you couldn’t imagine them being fulfilled. You’ve struggled to put your feelings into words. And yet you endured. You’re longing for this spring as a new beginning. And I pray that it is.

As the Lord said through the prophet Isaiah: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so it my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:9-11

What we can’t see, we can trust the Lord to use in our hearts. Nothing in our winter seasons will be wasted. The Lord will use it all as we release yet another season, and invite the Lord with our hearts:

“Have your way, Abba.”

Buds and flourishing will come, because that is who our Father is.

Reflection Questions:

Beauty blooms and breaks from the earth because a seed, in its old form, died and fell away. What if the Lord is showing you a new way forward? What old way needs to be released so you can embrace the spring?
